Amount of money they steal

Hey guys. I saw this film yesterday and I loved it!

Anyway, I was wondering approximately how much money there was in that big ball of change that they stole from the movie theater. They were talking like it was enough for them never having to work again. I have no idea about the values of the coins in Canada, so can someone enlighten me on this?

Thank you.

yeah loonies and toonies... 1 and 2 dollar coins... that was the thing that bugged me even though i love tpb... i dont think it would be enough to retire even though this is set in the 70's/80's, you cant retire on loonies and toonies...

which reminds me that toonies were only intoduced like 10 years ago, so i guess the movie might have been set within that time, which im sure it wouldnt be enough to retire

I think this is supposed to be present day.

It is part of the joke. These guys are so white trash, they think that a couple hundred, maybe thousand dollars will make them be set for life.

reply

yeah in the show they thought they could retire on 30 thousand each

And managed to lose all of that money in all of two days :P

Its like in the movie Knocked Up, the guy was living with some insurance around 15,000$ for nearly 8 years.

Well it's not present day, and they retire after season 7 if you have watched all the shows. How come not present day simple, No Corey or Trevor in season 7 where the movie they are in it. If you seen series 7 then you will know Corey and Trevor went off to a mental asylum.

reply

the movie came out in 2006 so it was meant to be present day...saying its not cause its 2 years old is just splitting hairs.

I don't think they had ATMS with explosive blue dye in the 70's.

The xmas special (which is the episode taking place as a prequel to the show) took place in 1997.

But part of the in jokes of the show is the lesser value of money in the trailer park
-ricky asking his dad for 30 bucks as though its a lot of money
-JRock renting out to bubble for 12 bucks a month
-I think in the movie Lahey says how much they make. He makes something like 12 grand with Randy making about 5. And on the show they talk of how Randy makes good money.
-even without breaking major laws (cart stealing) bubbles manages to live on shopping carts; stealing carts, fixing them up. How much money is in shopping carts?

He makes something like 12 grand with Randy making about 5.

Lahey makes 16,500 a year and Randy makes 4600 a year.

In the movie, Bubbles says he makes 80 bucks a month.
