Aubrey...

I'm sat watching the Grudge 2 now, and to be fair, I think it's a decent film, but one thing that really strikes me is the character of Aubrey. Seriously, how did Amber Tamblyn get cast in this movie?! I mean, I'm no top class actress myself, but I know a bad actor when I see one, and I'm looking at one right now. Her facial expression pretty much never changes, her acting as a whole is just crap too.

Anyway, just thought I'd share this view with you!

Rant over.

I actually liked this movie because of the non-singular storyline. It really branched out and the terrifying thing was the apartment building being slowly taken over by these forces. That girl was so creepy too!

Personally, I thought Amber Tamblyn was top notch. She did a great job.

Were you paying attention to the girl playing Miyuki? Now THAT was cringe worthy acting. I thought Amber Tamblyn was doing pretty well for the script she had to work with.

Amber Tamblyn did seem to have the same expression the entire movie. Granted, her character's kinda been through a rough time, I mean, watching your sister plummet from a roof would be traumatizing, so I can see why she's the same through the entire thing.

Arielle Kebbel, however...

Let's dance, douche bag!

I thought Amber did a good job. My wife and I felt really bad for her character - are we the only ones? Her Mom was a total b-itch to her. And for what? Not being a carbon copy of Karen? It was really emotionally poignant toward the end, when Aubrey was like "Mom, I love you...but you can't talk to me like that." And then after standing up to her Mom, she...well I won't give it away, but it made me sad :-( She deserved better.

I wish Aubrey and the Mom's background was explained more in depth. Sure, Karen seemed more outgoing, brave, and adventurous - hardly a reason to prefer one child over another. There's one deleted scene on the DVD concerning their relationship, but there should have been more background - too many horror movies skimp on that these days. Makes it harder to care for the characters...which makes the job Amber did with the little she had to work with all the more impressive.

I don't believe her acting was that bad, it was too bad at all actually, just my opinion.
