Did Harumi and her husband die?

I could be wrong, but I think that the guy who stands there in the street with his arms wide open, and then gets hit by that black sludge is Harumi's husband, right? Well, I just always felt for Harumi's character, and I'm pretty sure she and her husband died, correct? I know that if so, it's just extremely implied, but safe to say. I'm just not sure how litterally to take some things in this show, like the impact of some symbolic substance rushing all over the city. Just finished this show, by the way, and I really loved it :)

I didn't think of that, but the man with his open arms does look similar to Harumi's husband. However, it's possible that many of the victims came back or survived after the devastation, many of those swallowed up in Slugger's black mass are seen again at the end, as we obviously see Tsukiko walking around after being consumed by the mass, and she runs into Kawazu on the street, who was also sucked into it.

It's left ambiguous as to who else lived besides Tsukiko, Ikari, Maniwa, and Kawazu. But if I could guess, they both could have died or lived, but it's easier to imagine that Harumi's husband died, leaving Maria completely free to live her life without any trace of Harumi.
