have you ever noticed that Paranoia Agent is a bit like an anime version of the movie Candyman?

both Paranoia Agent and Candyman deal with the idea of strong enough belief actually causing something to become real

in Candyman the residents of the Cabrini-Green housing projects kept Candyman alive by simply believing in him and in Paranoia Agent Lil Slugger is real because the residents of Tokyo believe him to be real

He's a tulpa, so I think I would compare him more to the Slenderman phenomenon, since Candyman was a ghost of a person who was alive once, the other to are less human than that.
