Does it improve?

On the Death Note forum, people were suggesting to watch this. I watched the 3 first episodes of Paranoia Agent and I didn't like it very much, so far it's simply a guy hitting people on the head and that's pretty much it. Does the story progress or is it simply one aggression per episode until the end? I don't see how it is a special series.

If it hasn't interested you by episode 3, you won't like the rest. It's not like an average anime.

Ok. I found it strange that it was a procedural murder series since people that were suggesting it were comparing it to Death Note in complexity. I won't try to finish it then, thanks.

Just to clarify, it is far from a procedural murder. It's more of an anthology. Each episode follows a different character or characters.

Shonen Bat is more of a catalyst for exploring the events in people's lives. Some episodes don't feature him much at all. Solving the mystery isn't really the focus of the series. It's the people.

Yeah, sorry, I don't know why I said procedural murder when no one dies. What I meant is more like procedural investigation. One person gets hit and we follow him and nothing really moves overall. Nothing like Death Note or Ghost in the Shell in depth and complexity.

First of all, who told you no one dies? Maybe not in the first episodes, but they sure do later.
Believe me, this is FAR FAR from simply a guy hitting people in the head. The story does 'progress', but you don't realize how, until the last three episodes. It is then that you really understand what has been going on. This is a very deep, dark, surreal and symbolic series about evil, fear, illusion, irresponsibility and distance that separates people.

I Sympathise with Lars Von Trier.

Yeap, I'd recommend that. I don't think the first 3 episodes (as someone suggested above) is enough for someone to realize if they like it or not. I loved it until episode 7, I adored it at episode 8 and I recognised it as an ultra-masterpiece, while watching the last 3 episodes.

reply

Yes. It gets much more intense and engrossing as the show progresses (even if episode 5 comparatively wonky)
