Blinking

Something occurred to me when I was just watching this on Disney Channel, even though I've seen it many times: I noticed when Woody and the toys were arguing with Lotso over the dumpster, many of them were blinking (and I've kind of noticed it other times in all 3 movies). Humans blink to "clean, protect, and moisten our eyeballs", according to one website. But since the toys aren't actually human (as much as fans of the movies such as myself like to think they could be), they don't have the same biology, so they probably don't need to keep their eyeballs moist. In that case, it's likely nothing would cling to the eyeballs, so they wouldn't need to clean or protect them either. So why do any of them need to blink?

Or am I just overthinking the whole thing...? Hehe...

They probably don't need to blink, but it makes them look and act much more real. They don't do it when they're being played with so they don't have to blink. It's one of the "we're sentient" clues.

If you want to see a weird movie in which a real human protagonist almost never blinks, check out Jake Gyllenhaal in Nightcrawler. Creepy!

That makes sense, Adler. Thanks for the reply. :) And I did see Nightcrawler; great movie! But it's been a while since I saw it, so I don't recall Gyllenhaal not blinking much as his character. I'll take your word for it...

Human have a larynx to talk, so I don't see how the toys are talking... oh wait, it's a movie
