College?

Why is it mandatory for Andy to go to college? Is his life ruined if he goes to work for Barnes & Noble or Lowe's? Is he an underachiever if he decides to enroll in a community college or even a trade school? What if "good ole" Andy decides to get married and have a family after high school? Not everyone has the opportunity or privilege to obtain a college degree. Sure, a college degree will increase one's earning potential, but a hardworking and honest person can still have a chance in this world. We should not think less of people because of their socioeconomic status. I suppose "Toy Story" would have been less enjoyable if Andy was going off to Diesel Driving Academy. Let's be honest, no one would be excited about that.

Why does it sound like you are taking this too personal? It is never said if he is going to a uni or a community. Or his major.

The focus of the movie is not about him going to college and his life beyond that, it's about him growing up and letting go of his childhood toys so whatever this nonsense you are trying to spew, you need to find another board for it. The movie does not focus enough on Andy like that for you to draw out facts but rather a bunch of nonsense assumptions.

I personally only attended community college but only took at least one or two courses. I've been working in a grocery store for over four years. There's The saying "college isn't for everyone".

Someone sounds bitter. It's the middle class that suffers the most financial burden trying to pay college tuitions. The parents "make too much" for the kid to get a lot of financial aid. All the people I know that quite literally had nothing got a free ride all through college. There's no "privilege." Anyone can go to college if you work hard and don't get a bachelors in liberal arts because that really does get you nowhere. I've been paying my own way through school. It sucks but if you really want it then it's obtainable. I only lasted at Barnes and Noble for a year lol Working there got old. But hey if that's what you want to do for the rest of your life then go ahead. Do what you want to do.

Maybe he wanted to go by choice and wasn't forced by his mom.
