I honestly can't think of one. Relative to how astoundingly well-crafted this film is, it's almost criminal how low it flew under the radar. Anecdotally, I remember when it came out, but for years avoided watching it because I thought it was just some throw-away vanity production from Brad Pitt. Like others have posted, I too think it's a masterpiece. I hope in time it becomes widely recognized as such. It's one of the best-looking films ever, and with it's haunting score the film takes on a quality that can only be described as magical. Really, a magical, dreamy, contemplative film about life, legacy, and self-reflection.

This is a better film but if I had to say MORE Underrated...

Same director AND star...

'Killing Them Softly'

A smart, sharp, quick Crime Caper with so much more to offer than many of its genre.

If I'd add another, which is actually compared to KTS, it'd be 'The Drop'

But, you are correct regardless. This film is a Masterpiece but it's atleast STARTING to get its due respect. So that's a Major Plus

It may well be the most underrated movie right now.

Clearly you don't understand what underrated means, a lot of critics were very positive about it and it has a 7.5 rating on here.

A film can still be underrated have some good scores. Example if someone thinks a film is a 4.5 star movie and its average score is 4 stars, then it is underrated to them.

I believe this film is totally underrated. It was my #2 that year.
