The putrid stench of Save The Cat run amok

A relentless stream of catatonic setbacks & all is lost moments.. in fact, so much so that it feels as if, from the very beginning, that the successful outcome is a virtual certainty. Sadly, minus any genuine suspense the filmmakers are forced to resort to illogical horror to fill the massive remaining void.. when it could have been so much better!

Hey...she couldn't leave Jones behind to be part of the Interstellar BBQ! ...but i digress, in regards to the "certainty" of a happy-scrappy outcome in Sunshine...everyone died...upon tbe vessel that is, which somewhat dimnishes or rather counter balances the happy-scrappy 'Sunshiney' ending in Sydney. Besides the Nick Cage movie KNOWING, which has a downer of downer ending WITH a slight sence of HOPE ala kids running to a sorta Tree of Life on some new Eden/Earth, i cannot think of another Sci Fi film that doesn't have a "positive ending". Solaris (the original of course) maybe? If you know of any downer sci fi films please share...as there's nothin like a downer lovecraftish hard science fiction story.
