The Epitome of Overrated Films

LMS was one of the first new wave films of the mid 2000s to have that art house indie vibe only to end up being the most lackluster mediocre film youve ever watched.

Disagree entirely. I understand that some art house stuff is pretentious and near-unwatchable, but this one was exactly what it meant to be: an ode to embracing the messiness of life, and a rejection of society's insistence that everyone fit in to one of a neat little pre-packaged box.

I'm with aworgill.

The movie was like look, here's a messed up family. But it hit me because a scene in this movie brought a memory rushing back to me. Back in 1999 I too had a brief moment of chaos on a road trip with my family.

I was 16 at this point myself and my mother, through a series of extortion and chicanery, got me to ride with her, my dad, my cousin and my sister from Hamilton, Ontario to Colorado, Springs to visit family in the states. I knew it was going to a mistake as my family, while not bad people, I felt were embarrassing hillbillies with no sense decorum or street smarts. I still feel this way to a CERTAIN degree, but at the time I could not stand the f•••ers, for a number of reasons, I digress.

Sure as sh•* on a stick, this road trip quickly devolved from the annoying road trip to the inevitable "Time to gang up and sh•• on poor Nixon Comedy Hour".

I put up with it as long as I could, you can only be called a "silly f•ggot" so many times.(I'm not gay by the way, but since my wardrobe doesn't consist solely of hockey jerseys and baseball caps, I must be a fag)

So at one stop around MO, I decided that I had had enough and decides to tell everyone about themselves, in a big bad way.

It did not go over well.

I hadn't thought about that in a long time, but rewatching this movie brought it all right back.

The fact of the matter is that, as an indie film, it was a huge commercial and critical hit. So plenty of punters including myself, will clearly disagree with your statement.🐭
