This Movie Is So Overrated

I mean I like the film alright, the last part of the movie was good, but the rest of the film was just ok, it's hard for me to believe this movie won awards, and it's rated a 7.9 on here, I can't remember another movie that has gotten so much praise that it doesn't deserve than this one.

reply

No!

It's a masterpiece!

reply

yes it is a masterpiece in your opinion and most other peoples opinion, but in my opinion it's an average movie overall with an enjoyable ending.

reply

This movie sucks. The characters are annoying, the story is boring, and everyone of the characters need serious psychological help.

reply

So characters needing psychological help is a hallmark of bad movies? That's one of your criticisms?

reply

So don't WATCH it.

reply

Not even close. Deeply underrated I say.

reply

The film deserved all the praise. It's one of the best acted and written films of the past decade. Every has their own opinion, but in this case you're the one missing it.

I'm proud to have given "Mrs. Doubtfire" a 4, and if I see it again it may drop even lower. It's a forgettable studio film, and it's a family comedy, which is usually the worst sort of movie.

"Little Miss Sunshine" is a great movie. "Mrs. Doubtfire" isn't even a good one.

No it deserves it, it's a very good film, the cast is good too, Toni Collette, Abigail Breslin, Steve Carell, Bryan Cranston.
It's a great feel good film, and incredibly fun film to watch, I absoutley personally love it !

Who me yes I liked this more than The Graduate, The Graduate was old and boring, they are both decent I suppose but Little Miss Sunshine was better.

Ive seen WOWS, it is okay probably need to rewatch it at some point. Preferred this though, not to say this is "better" just that a fun frivolous 2 hour film is different to a long, boring, complicated political film which is 3 hours.

reply

100 % agree. It's an entertaining movie but the way people carried on about it is ridicules. I mean it got nominated for Best Pic. It's not exactly Gone with the Wind.

reply

Its not exactly Gone With the Wind

Wow! Talk about an apples and oranges comparison. It's not exactly like that movie because it wasn't trying to be.

, Gone With the Wind is a 4 hour epic about the lives of a family on a southern plantation against the backdrop of the Civil War.

Little Miss Sunshine is a small family comedy/drama about some middle class people on a road trip. It has more in common with movies like Marty, or the slapstick works of Howard Hawks, or the satire of Billy Wilder, than it does an epic like Gone With the Wind or Citizen Kane. Might as well compare it to Ben-Hur or Lord of the Rings while you're at it.

~ I'm a 21st century man and I don't wanna be here.

reply

So.... u do agree, it should not have been nominated for best pic

reply

This film and it thematic material sailed over a lot of people's heads, that's all.

reply

I don't think so. like all truly successful stuff, timing was a big factor. This movie came out right at the beginning of people's obsession with Quirky, Off Beat movies that go no where. Juno came out the year after, and was also (God Only Knows Why) nominated for Best Pic.

i told you not to stop the boat. Now lets go. Apocaylpse Now

reply

greg kinnear's shirts in this are very underrated too.
