Some of Blood Diamond's things were donated

QUEST FOR THE STONE
Shot on location in Africa, Leonardo DiCaprio gives a gem of a compliment to co-star Djimon Housou, calling him “electrifying.” The story’s based on a (fictional) pink diamond and the (very real) subject of “conflict diamonds,” or blood diamonds-stones smuggled out of African countries at war, whose profits go for arms and killing. While you may or may not like his accent (learned “drinking beers with locals,” Leo tells us), he plays a South African mercenary on the trail of the priceless stone Djimon found and hid, hoping it might save his family. Jennifer Connelly’s an American reporter who joins the hunt. (At the end of shooting, most of the sets, costumes-even personal belongings-were donated to local orphanages and hospitals.)
