That wasn't the line in the movie though, haha. In cases such as these, the specific wording that is used can change the whole argument.

The schoolteacher's statement was that "A moment of love, even in a bad man, can give meaning to a life." So in this case, yes; he is essentially correct, I'd say. That "moment of love" does not make up for all the bad things that a bad man has done; it may not even come close. But --- depending on what that kind, noble, or selfless action is --- it may indeed very well give meaning to the man's life, such that his life was not without merit, and such that his existence was not just to make the world a worse place.

Sorry about the quote ): I'm a cynical romantic myself.I sway constantly between pessimism and optimism. I believe that a moment of love or kindness does give redemption to a life, no matter how bad that person may be. I like to see the best in people and I like to believe that every person is capable of remorse and kindness.
