Just wondering....There was a scene where Dr Merrit received word that a village woman was ill and needed help (It was also late in the evening when he received the news) He claimed "Don't worry---I know all about her condition and he would take care of it" He gave his wife a goodbye kiss (Gillian Anderson) and left right away. His wife gave him a look like...Yeah! right! So you're leaving to cure her" Was this giving the impression that he was cheating on his wife and that she knew about it?

That is the exact impression I got, too.

In fact, in real life Kay Amin was impregnated by a Doctor who later wound up killing her during a botched abortion, and I knew this going in so I expected it to transpire they were having an affair! That didn't happen, but I definitely got the impression he was cheating on her.
