Forest Whittakers performance

I have always rated Whittaker as an actor and in this film we see him in a great role, I'm just wondering isn't it time the Academy paid this fantastic actor his dues by giving him the best actor award.

Gotcha........

I think that he did an excellent job, I admire him as an actor, as it says in Trivia section, he didn't stop being Amin even when not filming, you can actually see how devoted he is, and how excellent his acting is. Perfect !

he was good in this but a huge dissapointment in street kings!

Chris Brown, YOU SUCK!

I think he's a great actor but this performance was one dimensional like a pantomime buffoon (possibly even half retard).

reply

what does one dimensional performance mean? srsly need to know.

PS: I liked the performance but didn't like the movie too much

I thought he was fantastic and definitely deserved his Oscar. But I didnt like how everyone just assumed he would win and it was pretty much guaranteed. He wasnt THAT good. But still very good

His performance was great in this picture, among others. I think he's been held back on an Academy because he was involved in the Battlefield Earth debacle. Whether or not you agree with it, and I certainly do not, *beep* like that is a factor in Hollywood.

reply

To the OP: I agree 100%. And I just finished watching him in The Shield. Amazing performance but then, I can't think of a performance of his that was ever bad. He even gave his terribly-written character in Species a touch of quality.

Knowing that he's a bit of a gentle giant in real life, it's amazing how well he played a monster who can snap at any minute. You could just feel how everybody was walking on eggshells around him in this movie.

He is gentle in nature, and shy.

How he was able to embody a pious evil manipulative crazed leader SO WELL, I do not know. Right down to the accent the character was perfected. I think the story could of been more accurate, but I have no complaints otherwise.

I saw the film for the first time tonight, and he had me shaking with fear for the Dr (who I did not pity because he had too much of a thing for married women, and women in general haha). I knew it would not end well and even his cordial pleasantries in the beginning scared me.

He deserved every award he earned for a role like that.

Just seen this and yes, Whitaker was a joy to watch. I don't really know his other roles (apart from Platoon and Phone Booth!) but I guess this was the role he was born to play and I can't see him ever beating it. But I'd like to see more of him.
