There's another con this weekend.

Here are a couple of links. Put up more if you find them.

A few things of note to start:

Kim & Briana - There might be something cool happening with the spin off
Kim - said everyone will have a reaction to this finale
David HJ - the hardest scene he's had to shoot for SPN is coming up in the next episode
David HJ - originally there was supposed to be an entire episode dedicated to showing how Ketch was programmed as a kid to explain why he is the way he is
Misha - We might be getting to see Cas's wings in the finale
Misha - said the next episodes are brutally emotional

reply

Well at least it sounds like Jody makes it.

reply

Yeah, I'm hopeful for that with the spin off talk.

As an aside, I saw another tweet that indicated that after Kim said she wouldn't be in an episode if Jody was killed in it, they started having her sign a contract before she sees the script.

ETA: Amusing solution to the problem but kind of mean. :)

I just don't see how they can do a spin off when the writers can't even get people to like the current version of the show on now.

reply

My guess would be some kind of a web series?

reply

I have an idea for a spin off. How about one starring Jared and Jensen as Sam and Dean Winchester in their own show. Maybe they could call it The Family Business..

reply

Sign me up. I'd watch the hell out of that show!

It's fairly obvious (well, to me anyway) that at the start of season 12 TPTB instructed Dabb and the writers to come up with ideas for a spin off. The show has been a hit but it's dying and a spin off would continue to line pockets. Sam and Dean could even make guest appearances and continue the franchise.

I think that's the main reason Sam & Dean have spent most of their time in the background being ineffective and not knowing what's going on.

Anyway, it looks like the final couple of episodes could ROCK! Hope so. We really need something!!

I've seen this a few different places, but the problem I have with it is that if you start them off as bad guys and then kill them off by the end of the season, how does that lead to a spin off?

reply

Good point. :) As spin off ideas fizzled - characters got killed off I guess.

Mother Mary Hunter Extraordinaire (she came back from the dead to save the world)
MOL (Get Smart fights monsters with crazy gizmos)
Devil Baby (solves crimes from his crib)
Wayward Daughters (Eileen, Jody, teenagers and their texting and murder )

I don't know.... but I do think they've been actively searching for a spin off and forgotten about our brothers.

The major problem is how out of touch the showrunners are with the audience. Mick, the one BoL member that people started responding to...dead. Eileen, a character people were really starting to like with great potential...dead. The twins, the only one intact is Max, his sister...twine doll. Claire, the character they seem to want to spin off....disliked by a very vocal portion of fans. Again...clueless.

Now I don't have a problem with Claire and I would give a Jody/Donna/Claire/Alex a chance but I don't see them as the future. Right now the current show will be lucky to make it to season 14 and ep. 300.

Basically.

I think they're kidding themselves with this Wayward concept. I don't see it being successful.

reply

I would have been interested in a spinoff that involved Mick. I wasn't happy they killed him He was more interesting to me than Jodi and Briana are.

reply

I liked Mick too. I also like Jody and Donna but there's basically no spin off of Supernatural that I would have any interest in. The only SPN-related show I'd watch wouldn't even qualify as a spin off but more like a prequel with Matt Cohen as John and 2 young J2 clones: Supernatural Origins.

I think Wayward has a fanbase. I just don't think enough people would tune into the adventures of Claire, Alex and Jody to justify a series. I could be wrong but I really don't see it for them.

reply

I really don't think Jodi, Donna, and teens will last long but who knows. They won't need me to stay on the air.

SPN has been that ONE show in my lifetime that really pulled me in. I will be very sad to see it go.

reply

It's been a very special show for me too, my all-time favorite. I have to say that if it continues on the path it's on now, I won't be sad to see it go unfortunately.

I would LOVE an origins prequel series. They plan on a Charmed series in the 70's and Lost Boys where each season is a new decade. Supernatural in the 80's and 90's would be epic.

As for current characters, they need to keep fan favorites not just for a spin off but for J2's down time on the main show. Oddly enough, the two characters that were big Sam fans (Mick and Eileen) were the ones they killed.

I think that's the reasoning between Castiel and Crowley's longevity.

That's because we've only had characters that were big Sam fans this season. They couldn't have killed a Dean fan. There weren't any ;)

LOL but true
