OT: Kripke's show "Timeless" cancelled and then un-cancelled by NBC!

From TV Line
----------------

Man, Wyatt Logan and his team have changed history yet again: Timeless is coming back for a second season at NBC, despite the network cancelling the time-travel drama just days ago, TVLine has confirmed. (...)

NBC axed its sixth-rated drama four days before that decision was reversed; at the time, series co-creator Eric Kripke tweeted that he and co-creator Shawn Ryan would try to find another home for Timeless, but the “odds are long.”

A Peacock net insider tells TVLine, “We heard the fans and didn’t want to be on the wrong side of history.”

Co-creator Eric Kripke exuberantly thanked fans, as well as those involved in the renewal decision. He also confirmed that Season 2 will consist of 10 episodes.

So huge thanks to @nbc for supporting us. And THANKS for the fan support. It's a MAJOR reason we're back. It worked, guys! #TimelessRenewed

Wow! Happy for the fans. Kripke went from being out of a job to being re-hired at his old one!

That was a huge surprise in that this almost never happens - it has happened before, but very very rarely. So congrats to him and the cast and crew, and it's good news for the fans even though it's only a half-season pick-up for 2018. But, hey, it's uncancelled and that's everything for them. I know there are folks on my TL who really like this show.

I watched the pilot and just couldn't get into it. I think I tried to watch another episode at one point, and it still didn't grab me. But I wish Kripke the best with it.

I'm still hoping that when the CW gives the series its walking papers that Kripke will be asked and will agree to write the finale, maybe a two-part finale. I know I hated Swan Song, and I know he wrote it during a time he was pissed at the CW, wanted to move on, didn't care anymore, and that showed big time in the script. But under better circumstances I'm hoping he'd want to put the show, which is still his baby, to bed on a high note, and would this time not screw over Jensen who he really does like a lot. For all his highs and lows, he's still the one who treated Jensen and Dean best.

Kim was the heart of the show and when he died it lost itself. Kripke may be the only one who still tie it all together.

I agree that what made Kripke and the show better than it probably would have been, aside from casting, was the direction of Kim Manners, and of course far superior writers than the show has seen in years.

Hear, hear. All the good writers have left for greener pastures.

I also tried to get into Timeless. But congratulations on the reprieve.

I had a faint hope Kripke might become involved somehow with Supernatural again and put our show back on track. But that's lost now.

Yeah, that's why I shared the news here. We talked about Kripke quite a bit on the board when "Timeless" started collapsing in the ratings because we thought he might be out of a job and available for SPN. I wasn't very hopeful though because I don't think he's interested in the show anymore. I can see him writing the finale but coming back full time? I don't know...

Yeah, the show has a dedicated fanbase. I don't watch it but I hear about "Timeless" all the time because the fans are really passionate about it. I knew they'd be devastated by the cancellation and would fight it with everything they had, as would Kripke, because he fought for SPN too in the beginning. What I did not expect was the reversal. Good for them.

I'm hoping Kripke will accept to write the finale too. Jensen asked him publicly and I think Jared is on board too so fingers crossed.

I keep finding out new things. I didn't know Kripke was pissed at the CW during season 5. I know he had a rocky relationship with them, like with Dawn considering her constant sabotage of the series or the studio when they tried to force characters on him, but I would imagine he would have felt vindicated in the end, when the CW started holding on to the show for dear life after he was done with it like, oh you tried to sink me all these years, and now you need my show and its fans to keep your network alive?
