Looping Film Score

Doesn't it seem like the film score, such as it is, is just a couple of bars of music on a loop?

They're some good bars! But still... 

Yes, it was just a few bars of ponderous music played repeatedly with increasing intensity. I remember it was in the first movie too, and it really added to the tension.

if Jaws can do it, it can be done.

It does seem like that same main theme that plays over and over, but I really liked its use here. The music had an expanding "Everything is falling apart" mini-operatic sound to it, and matched the ceaseless terror, desperation and increasing hopelessness of the characters towards the end.

And the almost exhaustive nature of 28 Weeks' score felt like it was forcefully drilling itself into the brain (how fitting for a movie about infected), and when the movie was finished, I couldn't stop thinking of the music and what I had just seen. Good way to elevate the heart rate!
