i hope it gets materialized in the next few years
the first 2 was masterpeices so if the third one is half as good as the others then its still great

reply

Me. So. Happy.

The virus itself may just be the most ridiculous science I've ever seen, but it made an incredible story.

Funny how they say "28 months" and "28 years" is all they have left. I never really thought of it that way. To me, the series doesn't have to be linear. Just tell different stories about the same event. Do 28 Seconds, 28 minutes, 28 hours.. Hell 28 Seasons or 28 Moons... Of course, I'm not saying the series needs to be milked but it's not like there aren't possibilities after 4.

reply

i hope it ends on a trilogy myself
i dont think its cool when a franchise gets milked
not that there havent been fourth part movies that was still good
there sure is

I thought the first movie was a great zombie flick. I really enjoyed it.

28 Weeks Later was a disappointing follow up. It was alright but not nearly as enjoyable to watch.

The idea of a third film doesn't set my would on fire. I just think it's too bad they missed the big Ebola outbreak. You could have had the chance to really put the scares in people.

28 months is far too long, say it means 28 months after first outbreak in UK that means its been over 20 months since the infection spread to France so everyone will already be dead including the infected who die after 1 month.

I think it should be called 29 weeks later and be set 1 week after the second movie. They could also do a 28 hours later set it 28 hours after the idiots in first movie let monkey's out of the cage.

So a different movie called "Patient Zero" comes out next year. A pandemic of rabies infects people turning them into streamlined killers. A survivor is able to communicate with them while leading a group to safety.

Ha ha ha!!! Are you kidding me?! How does this "28 days later" knockoff (on paper at least) get made and released and a proper sequel is forgotten? They better be Ninja killers because it sure as *beep* sounds like the same thing.

The people who own the rights are either weary of a bad movie or greedy.

How come there isn't a young filmmaker doing a short film titled "28 Minutes Later..." that serves as a prequel? The story could be about a young intern at the laboratory where everything started. When everyone around her becomes infected she tries to escape. But then she finds out that her brother was with the group that freed the infected apes. She can't bring herself to kill him when she got the chance to end his misery because he is her only family. So, she locks him in a room promising to return with a cure.

reply

They could do a low budget prequel from inside the lab and explain how it gets out and into the public.

reply

Nah - I'm not interested in that. I want to see how, and where the virus is spreading. Is there a cure? Will they find it? Will they stop it?

reply

who said the infected die after 1 month? dont recall that ever being mentioned in the movies...

interesting article but so far nothing is happening.... i get the feeling danny boyle wont be involved at all... hes a bog boy now. his big boy boots are too big for this potential trilogy.

To me it feels like there is a missing piece to these films, a third and final piece to end everything.

Not only that, but there is clearly a market for zombie/infected/apocalytic films, TWD is evidence of that based on its popularity...

reply

They already did that, it's called 28 Days Later The Aftermath.

reply

sorry, they already did what? explain more please :)

reply

I'm really hoping it gets made! I would love to see one more of these movies.

But we need to get over the days/weeks/months thing. If they're as bad as they can be, pandemics pick up speed, don't slow down, or they do slow down but then come back in a wave (as 28 Weeks Later was).

The greedy producers can't get over the rights problems (ie. $$$) and that's what is holding things up. Too bad. Yet when Romero et al forgot to put (c) on their gem back in 1968, it left it as public domain which meant free enterprise and competition reigned supreme, and look at all the cool (and lots of dumb) z films that resulted when filmmakers were set free.

Alas, on the 28 franchise, they took care of their Ps and Qs, legally, so nobody can steal the idea and run with it.

Still, you'd think somebody would just buy out the hold-out producer so they can move on and make more money... because RAGE is the best!

reply

great point, not sure if its true or not though.... about the rights.

it would be good if they did that.
