Who thinks this film was dire?

Ok please don't tell me that people think this is a good film . I felt is was
an insult to the first movie and an insult to the viewers intelligence.
The whole film had the feel of a cheaper tackier sequel that was as doomed as the
characters in the film . The setting ( Isle of Dogs) ,plot and acting were all
totalling uninspired . This film should never have been made without a decent
plot and script. Neither of the two young actors could act for toffee. Every scene
involving them made me squirm .All I will say is if you liked this you would love
Dracula 3000 .

I was just going to start a thread titled << This is kind of wretched >>

The action scenes are not imaginative, or built to accelerate suspense. The zombies are a blur. The direction is kind of laughable...like, at one point we see zombies continuing their chase even though they've had huge chunks blown out of their bodies, but then emotional, eulogistic music swells when that one special zombie (you know the one) is shot at the end, and topples over dead.

Everything's just really heavy-handed and yet flaaaaaaaaat in this film. Very very weak, artistically.

So, you might like to watch "She's Funny That Way"?
IP was 17 or so at the time, and at least adequate. She gets better all the time?

It was a better movie that the original "28 Days Later".

I don't think so. Loved that, loathed this.

I tried to like it. But the movie made that hard to do.
The unnecessarily shaky cam prevented to get any overview over what actually happned. I can see that this creates urgency and can hide mediocre make-up effects, but given the production value of this movie, it would not have been necessary, especially not in a way which makes one suspect that the camera operator has parkinson.

Then there are the flaws concerning the internal realism: the janitor gets into every part of a building. Because as we all know, we rely on the knowledge about biohazards of the people who mob our floors. Chemical weapons are not entering a car because it is airtight like a space shuttle. Of course the soldier dies a heroic dead, mocking the people who die of that weapons in real life: with spasms and cramps, wetting themselfs, incapable of even just reacting to the gas in any way apart from dying.

Of course the horror-genre specific stupidity of the characters is present as well. He kisses his wife although he knows that this will infect him. But why not just taking the risk for no reason at all?

The crude attempt of adding suspense by having one specific zombie be at all the important places every single *beep* time didn't do it for me either. Especially letting the camera move over him as if he was somehow cleverly hidden in the subtext felt like an insult.

This was such a pain to watch.

There were parts I liked, and the general idea of creating save zones and showing the rebuilding would have offered more originality than what the movie then went for. I wish they would have explored that part a bit more before going down the road of a very conventional B-movie. The idea of having carriers. This could have led to ethical questions and allowed a depth comparable to the first movie. Instead the audience should somehow just root for the kids to escape in order to create the typical unimaginative and at that point absolutely expected horror ending.

I don't think the guy knew his wife had been infected, let alone knew that he would have contracted it.

The first movie wasn't that great - it wasn't bad, but it felt like nothing more than a rehashing of other zombie/post-apocalyptic films. At least with this one there was more in the way of tenseness and uncertainty.
