Personal Opinion

I personally think this movie was underated. I really enjoyed this film alot, and I feel it has the potential to be remade into something more appreciated.

I think it's a great movie, a true Sci Fi action movie.

It's a shame it was poorly recieved - it would make a great tv show

reply

it has an interesting theme, these powers are real, but of course exaggerated, and the cia kidnap these people to use them.

i mostly will not be able to answer your reply, since marissa mayer hacked my email, no notification

I agree man. It was such an awesome movie. I really wish they turned it into a franchise or series. Such a shame.

There is a series called Heros. I felt like Push stole some ideas from them. Push is still good, though.

Has everything that's happened, already happened? Should I stay exactly the same?

reply

Never seen Heroes... but what ideas do you think Push stole from them? Themes of super powers, ability to see the future, telekinesis, etc are pretty common story elements.

reply

Heroes had all of those powers in the series too

reply

Sure, but what I'm saying is none of these ideas are not original to either Heroes or Push. They are extremely common story elements that appear in lots of films, books, stories etc.

reply

Name 3 others, other than push or heroes!

Off the top of my head...

The Am I Number Four book/movie series has:
Telepathy (pushing is essentially this on steroids) - the character with this ability can put stories/thoughts into people's minds although it's unclear yet if she has the power of persuasion.
Healing- Two characters can heal others by touching them.
Precognition - Some characters can see the future.
Telekinesis - all characters with super powers are able to move objects with their mind.

In Matilda the main character is telekinetic.

In Twilight there's a character who can see the future, the werewolves communicate telepathically.

In the Maze Runner books, two characters are able to communicate telepathically, this was not included in the films. Also in the Maze Runners characters memories are wiped though not by someone with super powers.

In Star Wars there's the Jedi Mind trick, "These are not the droids you're looking for" and "Put your gun in your mouth and close the trigger" are both examples of mind control.

In the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Elizabeth Olsen plays a telekinetic character.

There are probably a lot more examples of things like healing, seeing the future, telepathy, and telekinesis than things like shifters, sniffs, bleeders, and shadows since the first four are pretty much universally recognized. I think Push simply took basic superpowers and kind of messed with them until they worked for the story.

Plus The Fury, Carrie, XMen ... the list can go on and on.

reply

Powder, Phenomenon, Youth Without Youth, X-Men, Lucy, Carrie, etc. (of course "Lucy" came out five years after "Push").

reply

Push didn't "steal" anything from Heroes; that show was running old tropes to begin with. I enjoyed season one of Heroes, but let's not pretend they invented "government hunting down the special people" or "superpowered people fighting secret wars in-between the cracks of society".

reply

I liked this movie a lot. Underrated indeed.

reply

I agree, I think it's very underrated. It's not a brilliant film, but it's neat, they use the power gimmick mostly well, and the plot is fun.
