spielberg under dark night spell as well?

that movie put people in trance. mediocre film for philistine. an action film is what that film is. no more!!

reply

Basically, The DARK KNIGHT was more of a crime drama that just happened to involve people running around in costumes more than the traditional superhero movie at the time..

reply

My ass it's a crime drama, it's full of cliché superhero movie traits.

Misleading title, he didn't say "First Blockbuster", because tons of blockbusters got nominated and won before: Titanic, The Godfather, The Lord of The Ring, Star Wars.

reply

What does that even mean? TONS of blockbusters got nominated for best picture. Including the OG blockbuster that started it all, Spielberg's own Jaws? What about Star Wars, Titanic, ET, Forrest Gump, Ben Hur, Gone With the Wind, Raiders of the Lost Ark, Saving Private Ryan, Black Panther, and all three Lord of the Rings movies? Too many to count.

I was going to say almost exactly this, although I think you were more thorough than I was going to be. Well-said, e3e34ifj.

There had been blockbusters nominated for Best picture. But hindsight 20-20, this movie should’ve been nominated. They nominated mad Max and Black Panther in the years ahead. But in 2008, there was an aversion to giving superhero movies nominations at the academy
