Anyone love Gemma Arterton's performance during the climax???

Alright, so the movie was so so, I still liked it enough. But I thought the scene where she actually let go o his hand in order for him to drop her, and her expression and the fear in her voice as she was about to fall, VERY convincing and gut wrenching. A+ =D

Yeah totally agree with you. It was one of the scenes from the movie that actually stuck with me. I'm glad someone else noticed it. The way she bursts into tears and her voice and expressions were dead on. Very good scene. Maybe they actually hung her off a ledge and said "Cry you bitch or we'll drop you".

Compare that to the scene where Io dies in Clash of the Titans and Sam Worthington's expressions as he's watching her die; as if he's still thinking "Damn I'm the man.....I suckered these morons into hiring me for yet another movie" and smiling to himself. God, that man cannot act.

Dunno, I saw him in some pretty good Aussie stuff, seems like he is having accent problems though.

I liked her figure.

The material didn't really give her much to work with, but yes, she had her moments nevertheless.

Still, it was the body that mattered.

Friend, you just made my day. "Cry you beetch or we'll drop you" :D :D :D

It was rather realistic in my opinion, she knows that dying is a scary thing but it's her only option for the Prince to save everything. Sad stuff.

Damn, I hate Sam Worthington, he's so crap D":

Probably her only good moment for me.

I don't mean to insult her performance, maybe she was fine, but I was too busy being annoyed with her character. I am lacking in the penis department so I was not otherwise wooed by her presence.

Well that's what I meant, in a movie that pretty much had her look pretty and be a snarky little brat for girth of the film, that one scene really stood out. Especially considering the material, a lot of it is very forgettable, but those few seconds really stood out, for me anyways.

ha...well, at least you know your shortcomings. maybe you can get one of the pumps to try and improve yourself.

Anyway, I thought I had the unrated version, but I never saw her climax scene

I had mixed feelings about that moment; I thought she made a choice and played it well, but it seemed like an odd way to choose to do it.

I mean, she's this hardcore princess, willing to fight and kill and go on daring horse rides to protect this dagger, and she's been trained her entire life to know that she may have to die some day to do her job, and she's pretty calm about dying when she's about to return the dagger to the rock, and she's pretty sure of herself when she's telling Jake to drop her, AND THEN, at the very last moment, she starts sobbing and screaming. Maybe it was to make her seem more human, maybe it was to make the moment more emotional and dramatic, but it felt to me like after all her hardcore-ness, she wimped out at the last moment and went out not with a bang, but with a whimper. Kind of a unimpressive way to die.

What do you guys think? Why did they choose to play it that way?

Good points, emilykrycek-1.

My guess is they had second thoughts while filming it, and decided to put in some reference to the game. But their game references weren't exactly executed in the right way for them to make sense in the movie, and all of them ended up falling flat on their faces. Including the mega-rewind at the end.

actually I thought it was done pretty well- I mean it is one thing to say in the abstract that you have to do what you have to do- but when it comes time to actually DO that and sacrifice yourself, I think you would absolutely react that way- the other time when she was about to return the dagger to the rock, she was not hung off the edge of a cliff with the man she loves possibly about to die and the world about to end- so I think she had more to lose at that point and even though she had been trained her whole life to sacrifice herself if it came down to it, she still couldn't help being scared and devistated at what she had to do.

ok- sorry that is a complete babble-fest- hope you get my point!
oh and please forgive any spelling mistakes and wierd sentences- it's late (or early depending on your point of view!)

I know!! I was very impressed...and then slightly depressed, when, at the very end, all that had been swiped from her memory...of course...well, it's a good thing he went back in time and she was still alive.

GA did a great job in that scene and I do think it was an amazing scene. Just a great movie IMO.

I actually hated this part. I watched it with my fiance, and after the movie was done, we both looked at each other and said, "If ever I tell you to drop me off a cliff because it is the only way to save yourself, I promise not to scream and cry all the way down."

Because seriously, I'm sure he already felt bad enough about having to let her go - why make the situation even worse by screaming bloody murder when it was her decision to be let go???

Just p*ssed me off, I guess!
