This movie didn't flop..

It made more than 330 million dollars at the worldwide box office. And in DVD sales it did almost 50 million.

It wasn't that well received in the US but it still did well in overseas.

I personally enjoyed the movie, it took from alot of the games instead of just sticking to one but it still felt pretty good to me. I would not mind a sequel at all.

As has been pointed out many times on this site - budget does not cover advertising costs, and a bit of the gross goes to cinema owners, not the makers. The general rule is that for a movie to be reasonably successful it must gross double its budget - covering all costs and then making a healthy gain on top of that.

This one grossed 336 mil on a budget of 200 mil. So it missed the bar for solid success quite substantially.

Yes, DVD sales help out a bit, but this movie's gross was disappointing. The simple evidence is in the lack of a sequel.

Have to agree.

Pity! I liked it though I've never been into the game.

$200 million is a huge amount to gamble on the first movie of an anticipated franchise.

The producers were lucky it did so well overseas because it was a flop in North America.
