Region 3 DVD?

Does anyone know if the Region 3 DVD is the original version - the one with the wolf attack in Claire Danes' house. I would like to see that version. People have written on these boards about an alternate cut of the film. Can anyone confirm if that cut is on a different region DVD? The Region 1 is the cut down Weinstein Co. version.

Yes. There are two completely different cuts of this film. The U.S. version, by all accounts, is the vastly superior cut (without the "wolf" attack).

So, you're saying the wolf attack version is on the Region 3 disc?

I don't know regions but the US version has no wolf attack and is the version that is getting the positive reviews.

The Region 3 DVD is the original cut. I prefer this version than the one released on video over here.

The Weinstein Co. version is not a "cut down" version. This cut had nothing to do with "cutting down" timewise or otherwise. Iis a completely different cut and a different telling of the story. It includes scenes that were omitted in the other version and omits scenes included. Europe and Asia got the other cut. So whatever those regions are, they have the unexplained wolf attack.
