How did Anton know to go to El Paso?

His last scene before showing up in El Paso he's somewhere out in the Texas boondocks and his truck was kapoot and he steals a chicken truck because the old geezer told him that if he was looking to fly out he'd use the airport out of El Paso. Was that the lead that gave Anton the idea that Moss would be?

It's a small detail but I don't recall Anton using a scanner to listen in on any police activity so it would seem like telepathy for him to know that the Hotel in El Paso was the place to look for Anton.

Wasn't it the Mexicans that followed Carla Jean and her mother that found out from the mother?

Or the mail Anton was looking at when he went into Moss's place?

Been a while since I've watched it.

reply

No, I think the general consensus is that Llewellyn used common sense and probably just traversed El Paso, particularly near the airport Motels and Hotels and he would have noticed the homicide investigation

reply

Anton in El Paso seems to either be a figment of Sheriff Bell's imagination or the audience's. It depends on how you interpret the scene at the Hotel room because Anton appears to be in the room then he isn't. The only palpable clue is the open air vent that Bell notices and we see the coin used to loosen the screws. Was it Anton?

reply

Yes, the coin and the screws means that Anton found the money. But he wasn't in the room at the time that Sheriff Bell was there

reply

Yes. It follows logic that Llewelyn would probably try to fly off somewhere. El Paso was the nearest airport.

Its not telepathy Anton used, just reason. He could easily obtain a police scanner, or just by riding around town or listening to the news, anyone could put those pieces together that there was some sort of gang shooting at a hotel. Anton would investigate.

Anton knew where Llewelyn hid the satchel before, and got the brass ring.

There was also that scene where a good citizen stops to help Anton jump-start the car. Anton asks where the airport is. The guy tells him there are air-strips, but the only real airport is El paso. So Anton figured El Paso is where Moss would go
