Season 4 episodes 9 + 10. (Spoilers)

I just finished season 4 on Netflix. I must say in episode 9 that the man who played Cetin did such a great job. Both times when he was begging for his life, were great scenes. That was really amazing acting on his part. I don't know how awards are handled for French television, but he should have won something for that episode.

In episode 10, I was a little baffled, for lack of a better term, by the Telliers (the group who wanted the 50,000) from Jorkal). No matter how valuable Pierre may have been to Jorkal, I can't see that threatening and possibly killing his lawyer would have been the best way to get their money. Lawyers are always replaceable. It just seemed an odd and unwise choice to go after Pierre. Maybe they were only trying to scare him, but there is too great a chance that Jorkal would leave Pierre to fend for himself and never pay up.

Also, just as I finally stopped seeing Laure as a disgusting human being, she cheats on Vincent, with a man who didn't respect the fact that she was in a new relationship. And in the last two episodes she's toying with both of them. :(

Johnny Jorkal seemed to value Pierre a lot and was obviously planning to use him whenever needed; Pierre was a valued object. Perhaps the Telliers were aware of this, hence the threat to Pierre -?

I fing it intriguing that Laure has a high sex drive and, in previous series, displayed a rather 'masculine' attitude towards sex. I find it an unattractive quality too. With that as context, I understand some of her divided feelings because the situation with Sami was not finished and she clearly cared for him a lot. With Vincent she has settled into a domestic life, which will be less exciting. She's never had a mundane realtionship with Sami because their situation wouldn't allow it. So her unfinished feelings coupled with the excitement he signifies leads her to stray. It's significant that the sex occurs in a car too. I think the programme makers are showing us something about Laure's character and her 'pathology', if I might use that word.

The distance is nothing. The first step is the hardest.

I personally found a lot of the season 4 story arcs to be somewhat confusing (or uninteresting), from the protestors, to the Kurds, to the Telliers.

As far as Laure goes...I could certainly see the conflict building between her feelings for Vincent and her feelings for Sami. She is what she is -- a flawed character, like everyone else in the series. That's not to say that I wasn't disappointed in her choice; just not surprised either.

Spiral is certainly not your typical Hollywood/feel good/happily ever after kind of show. It's more like a soap opera, but carried out on a much higher level IMO.
