child abuse case in first season ep 1

Am I missing something, or does it seem like nobody is taking any action about a known case of child abuse? The prosecutor finds out that a little girl is being abused by her older sister, which her tutor knows too because she is the one who shares this information with prosecutor. The only result seems to be the dismissal of the charge against the teacher, but as far as I can tell no action is being taken to help the little girl.

The parents were informed as to who was abusing who. Depending on the age of the older child, the abuser, it's not a criminal matter. We aren't told anymore but it's possible there was a referral to the social services to monitor the children.

Not sure how French law works, but shouldn't charges have been filed -- or at least an investigation started -- against the parents? (Not that the show had to depict the investigation, but maybe at least a reference made as far as follow-up is concerned?)

Well, in the US most people prosecuted are poor. The well to do take the abused child to a private doctor instead of a hospital emergency room. Then they lawyer up and refuse to be interviewed.

I don't know everything. Neither does anyone else
