Ant-Man's abilities. Am I misunderstanding a few things?

A few questions. I'm assuming that one talking about and abilities that the same applies to the Yellow Jacket.

He shrinks to the size of an ant but maintains normal human strength? If true then how could Hank just swat him away so easily? He wouldn't be able to do that tell Scott if he were full-sized.

Why would throwing a toy train be so difficult?

Hank was having some problems when the ants grabbed him. With normal human strength he would have no trouble.

There are several other things as well but I won't list them here.

Perhaps I am misunderstanding the "physics" of the Marvel universe. I don't read comic books but I I'm a fan of superhero movies.

He's taking the knife out of the Cheese!
Do you think he wants some cheese?

Don't get yourself worked up over physics an a comic-book movie.

In comic book movies a woman can jump up and grab a speeding ship with one arm and not have her arm ripped out of the socket.

A guy can shoot an arrow at a moving target and hit it without even looking.

A guy can fall out of a high-rise building with an adult woman on his chest, crash land onto the top of a car, neither of them suffer any injuries, and then not go back up to the penthouse to rescue his guests from the madman who is terrorizing them.

A guy can go around a city in tights and fake rubber muscles and nobody laughs.

I had the same issue. They need internal consistency even if the tech is fantastical. Instead, when shrunken they either have their normal mass or they have virtually none, like bugs, depending on the whim of the writers in the moment.

You're not misunderstanding anything. The movie was just inconsistent. Which is fine for a saturday-morning-cartoon-esque kiddy movie like this.

People that take superhero movies too seriously would be disappointed. Just don't be those people.
