Regarding the "Dead" Vampires in the Novel
The novel states there were two types of vampires: still living and dead ones. Although it has been a while since I read the novel but do remember that the virus was said to bring back those who died from the virus but I do not ever recall it being said they have no heartbeat or circulatory function or they were simply reanimated corpses. Ruth called them dead but also said their brains were damaged. I am wondering if by saying they were dead, she meant that in the sense of not being able to recognize any living person as anything other than something to be killed for their blood.
