this may be a stupid question but

when you say the title, is it pronounced as "it" or do you just say the letters I and T?

it probably doesn't matter but its been driving me crazy!

reply

You say the letters I and T. It stands for information technology, which is what the characters do for their jobs. I don't think its silly, its a valid question.

reply

I pronounce it as "it" rather than I T because the title is playing off the phrase "the it crowd."

reply

I've only ever heard the people involved with the show (writer, actors, etc) call it The I.T. (individual letters) Crowd, so that must be correct.

reply

It is a play on words. It is literally "The I.T. Crowd" but plays on them being "The it crowd" - which they sadly are not, because those in IT are never it. :)

reply

I just read in another thread that the show's writer says "The It Crowd"... not I.T.

Luke … this is your father … come set the table for dinner.

reply

It's intentionally left ambiguous. Are they talking about IT people or an it crowd?

EDIT: Series 2 commentary opening Graham Linehan says "Welcome to series 2 of the I.T. Crowd, or the it crowd, whichever you prefer. I'm sick of saying that. Oh, what a mistake that was, having two titles."
