Movies like this deserve a new genre

Properly classified as a horror by today's standards, the Hostel movies are a perfect example of why we need a new genre for this type of movie. There is nothing scary about these but just plainly gross and disturbing. There is no feeling of dread. I had no feelings for any of the characters but just spent the whole time thinking this is an awful thing to do to a person. Any suggestions?

This is definitely horror...it's horrifying.

It already has a new genre, torture porn. That's the perfect name so no need to think up a new one.

But torture porn is generally considered horror, although it should not be. So if you are arguing for torture porn to be considered not-horror, I agree.

Saw is torture porn, Hostel isn't. Hostel is a thrill driving horror flick like we don't see really often nowadays (I'm only talking about the first two of course) and is a pretty effective character driving movie actually.
