Somewhat of a homage to Friday The 13th (Part 1 and 2)? **SPOILERS**

Perhaps it was just coincidence, but I'd like to know people's opinions as to whether these were intentional or not.

*Both Hostel 2 and Friday the 13th 2 start with scenes that involve the "hero" or person that survived from the first movie.

*In Hostel 2, the hero from the first movie is decapitated (loses his head). In Friday the 13th 2, the survivor from the first movie finds a head in the refrigerator.

*The last scene in Hostel 2 has main girl decapitating the model girl. In the first Friday the 13th, the survivor decapitates the killer at the end of that movie.

*And lastly, I don't recall very many sequels nowadays having "Part II" in the title. Sometimes newer movies will add the number 2 (i.e. Saw II), sometimes they'll do a play on the words in the title (i.e. The Fast And The Furious --> Too Fast, Too Furious), but both sequels to Hostel and Friday the 13th added the somewhat dated "Part II" in their title.

Am I reaching here, or was any of this intentional?

thanks.

You may be on to something. It has been a long time since I have watched F13th ... but some of that jogged my memory.

in my opinion it wasn't an homage. it was just really, really lazy writing. I didn't expect hostel 2 to be exactly the same as the first one. the death of the hero of the first one was disappointing and not scary at all. basically his death was just an excuse so roth could just recycle characters and locations exactly as in the first film.

"he didn't call the police, that's why the killers used the same location" BS. roth is just a hack writer who couldn't come up with anything halfway original.

I was just so shocked at how much of a lame copycat this movie turned out to be. I mean i knew the formula "stupid main characters get tortured to death, but one fights back." but to see exactly the same places, backgrounds, and scenarios was boring for me.

Friday the 13th part 2 was for me the far superior sequal because at least part F13 part 2 added something new , JASON, by contrast this movie was just throw up from the first hostel vomitted on a script.

stick with being "the bear jew" eli!

exactly right. as i was reading question by the OP, i was saying to myself "hell no, he's just a lazy prick who has nothing at all interestingly original to offer"

I also noticed they stole the beginning of FT13TH Part 2.

The last surviving character from the previous movie getting killed at the beginning of the next one is an oft used tool in this genre.

What do you expect Roth loves the F13 movies.
