I need more please!!
shareBoy meets girl to mutual betterment and benefit of both.
shareYou can always achieve a comeback, for personal and/or professional success, if you pursue your dreams with everything you've got.
shareI think the there are a couple themes. A. Being don't give up on your dreams, i.e, Drew a writer who is now watering plants and Hugh who is a has-been. B., Follow your heart, i.e., Hugh singing a song for her at the end. Also, you can't phase the tired and true story of boy meets girl and falls in love. I think this is the overall theme in any romantic comedy regardless of the obstacles and outcome.
shareI think the main idea was that each of them were facing an uncertain future till they teamed up. Then the magic of their separate talents came together and each found someone to appreciate them, as well as a future for them both.
He bolstered her belief in her talent and she helped him realize that he could do things musically that he didn't believe he had in him anymore.

That 80s pop music, while ridiculed, is the conquering force that will unite us all in the end.
Learning to trust someone again could be one of the underlying messages. As hard as it was for them to write the song in three days, I think it was harder to open up to each other and share themselves after what they went through. Sophie had been lied to and used by Sloan - who also ridiculed her writing. Alex was not only abandoned, but had his music stolen by Colin. They had to overcome those past experiences.
Also agree with the previous posts about believing in yourself and not giving up on your dreams, no matter how much time has gone by.
