When I first saw this movie, I loved it and I loved "Way Back into Love"...it's a really beautiful song but I thought it sounded familiar. I shrugged it off but then today I heard the song "Head Over Heels" by another 80s band, Tears For Fears...
Am I the only one who noticed that the choruses where almost exactly the same? Listen to the song, it's probably on youtube.

I can see what you mean (I remember the Tears for Fears song well), but I can't really see that the choruses are "almost exactly the same". They hit most of the same notes, but mainly in the first line of the chorus, then they move off in different directions, imo. Also, the emotional "vibe" of the two songs are very different.
But I wouldn't call you crazy ;-)
That's all I could think of when they were playing the song - that I'd heard it somewhere before. I knew it was an 80s song and had a feeling it was in Donnie Darko. I would try to hum along to the song in the movie and start humming Head Over Heels instead.
