Mary/Margaret?

Why are Henry's sisters Margaret and Mary switched in this series? Princess Mary's storyline is obviously portrayed, but she is called Margaret.

reply

They were actually combined into one character. Margaret.

It was thought that having two sisters would be confusing to the audience, especially with her name being Mary. We already had two Marys. I personally don't think it would have been that confusing, but the show had a big enough cast already and having another sister would mean spending more money hiring yet another actor for a show that was already budget heavy.

Yeah but they did close off the possibility of a spinoff/sequel show by not having Margaret have any kids, which was unfortunate. In the time of the show, the real Margaret would have been already off to Scotland and not really relevant to the plot, so yeah I could see that they thought one sister who had more plot related to Henry got renamed to keep from being confusing, but due to condensing a lot of time into the show, she was out really early in the show before having any kids.

Consider the daffodil. And while you're doing that I'll be over here looking through your stuff.

the real Margaret's kids would have to feature prominently in "The Stuarts," not "The Tudors"...
