lack of women ?

why does it seem like there's 3 women and 100 men ?

reply

there were more men than women at court. There were the queen's ladies in waiting, but the court officials, and the major political figures, were generally men. there would have been a lot more men around the king than women. the. tudor era actually features an unusual number of prominent women - all Henry's wives were important for instance, as were his daughters, who both became queens, and his sisters, who also were queens.

reply

Yup. Most of the women were at home sewing and popping out babies.

the wives of the noblemen at court would be running large estates in the absence of their husbands, it was quite demanding.
