Not Being Able To Fly Until He Puts On The Suit

It's the problem with versions of the Superman origin where he doesn't fly until he puts on the suit, it feels too much of a stretch to have him not fly while his other powers were developing and to only fly when he suits up for the first time. In the 78 movie skip over him learning to fly while training at the fortress for 12 years, in the Lois & Clark pilot he could fly long before he had the suit what was wrong with that? Smallville didn't have him fly until the very end because they couldn't afford to do it every episode.

It's homage to the best superhero TV show: The Greatest American Hero, of course, any homage without Robert Culp is totally pointless.

reply

The suit doesn't make him fly and the suit doesn't make him a hero either, it's from within that makes him a hero.

reply

he would look pretty stupid flying around in a Clark Kent suit!

reply

It maybe he didn't know all his powers till his father told him.Scarlet Witch as she grew older discovered hers as like Captain Marvel

reply

It's more of a visual shorthand for the audience... like he "comes into his own" at the moment he happens to don the suit.

Smallville had a no tights no flights rule but they broke it once or twice when Clark was under the influence of certain kryptonite

reply

They dragged the no flying rule through the dirt for ten seasons.
