Why does Rogue suck so much?

Sorry but in this version, evolution version and all the movies Rogue just sucks. Sorry, but she needs to gain Ms Marvel's powers already and be a badass flyer/tank. Every version of her has her running around doing nothing because she cant do anything.
The movie verse did the worst thing to Rogue and made her give up her mutant powers and she amounted to nothing. Evolution came close to giving her some actual power, like showing the future x-men team and Rogue flying. But this whole depowered Rogue sucks. I think if a new series starts they should show Rogue powerless for a little bit, join the Brotherhood, and one episode she should just permanently take Ms Marvel's power somehow.
TAS really did Rogue justice and she was way better than this crap. Even in the video games she is a tank, why cant she be in a series?

I'm sorry what do you think your doing?

I miss the 90s Rogue as well, but sadly that version of Rogue seems to be gone for good. :(

What is so great about Ms Marvel Rogue anyways? I mean, at least EVO Rogue keeping her original powers allowed them to better explore just what it's like for someone to never be able to touch someone else. Make her a tank and she's just like any other generic superhero.

But now she's a bit too... emo for my tastes. A little emo can go a long way.

Rogue hasnt had her Ms. Marvel powers in the comics for quite some time.

Thats one of the few problems I have with X-Men: TAS. People who were introduced to the X-Men by the early 90's cartoon. It made people think Gambit was cool, Apocalypse was powerful, and Ms. Marvel's powers were all Rogue had going for her...when in reality, Gambit only had 2 meaningful storylines in his entire history(organizer of the Marauders and supposed X-Men traitor-but that turned out not to be him thereby taking the one interesting aspect of his character away) and was basically an ancillary character. Apocalypse in the comics is a guy who shows up every few years and talks a big game but is rarely ever a threat and generally gets defeated rather easily, being quite possibly the most overrated villain in comic book history...the cartoon made him like nigh omnipotent(X-Men: EVO did the same thing). Rogue's powers have fluctuated from her not having them at all to being able to control every one shes ever absorbed, from not being able to touch to being able to, from Ms. Marvel's to Sunfires powers permanently stored and beyond. I personally like EVO and W&tXM's portrayal of the character as it is the first true portrayal we have ever got(along with the movies).

reply

Well, at least in EVO they had the better sense to only use Apocalypse once (yeah, it was because the show ended but still...) instead of blowing him in Season One like TAS did and make him some generic unclear overlord type.

Sorry, if you think the movie's portrayal of Rogue was the best you need to be slapped.
No it wasnt ! The third movie actually was the Rogue at the bottom.

I'm sorry what do you think your doing?

I thought THIS version of Rogue rocked - she was clearly evolving as a character. One of my favorite scenes in this show is Rogue confronting the entire Brotherhood in one of the early episodes.

They surround her, and you sort of see her think about running, then her hand tightens into a fist and the glove comes off. She is total bad-ass. My top Rogue moment of any animated show - maybe excepting the Christmas eve battle with Magneto over NY City in X-Men EVO.

From listening to the commentaries I know the producers were`t completely happy with the way her animation turned out. I also suspect they were building up to having her as a more powerful character for the Age of Apoc storyline. Just an impression.

For the first year, they used more as secret agent, and it worked pretty well.

I also thought the sexual tension with Domino was great !!!

What other X-Woman could have had that near-kiss....

I pretty much always like Rogue no matter what skill set she's using, though I do admit that the southern belle powerhouse with the happy go lucky facade, that's dying on the inside, is my favorite version. I'm a pretty big fan of most of the X-Men comics from the 60s all the way up to the mid-90s, and that was the version I first grew to love. WATX's Rogue was pretty cool, at least after she ditched the Brotherhood. The thing that I don't like about the extremely back to basic Rogue is how solely dependent she is on the skills or memories of those around her. I kinda wish they'd at least let her keep some form of flight.

The reason that everyone is hung up on a high powered-Ms Marvel abilities Rogue is because, at the absolute height of her popularity, this is who she was. It was when she was among the most popular characters in all of Marvel.(Not just female) The power house southern belle Rogue really struck a chord with people and that's why we all want to see that version of her in a series again. I can't speak too much about Rogue in this series' personality, though I think she's a bit moody, but we want to see an ass kicking Rogue again.

Want, you just totally hit the nail on the head. Excellent post.

Why does Rogue suck so much? Because that's her mutant power! Get it? She sucks powers from others. Hahaha! I'll be here all week. Sorry, I just couldn't leave that one alone!

The worst version of her is the live action, the best is the 90s, but I really liked her character in EVO.

90s Rogue was by the far the best, in terms of animation, story, voice, personality. Evolution's goth Rogue was unlikeable and this version's Rogue was boring

The TC is wrong. I agree movie Rogue sucks but Evolution Rogue was cool. The TC never saw the early season 1 episode where she was kidnapped by Blob and absorbed both Cyclops' and Blob's powers and used them to defeat Blob. She did other cool things in that show too. Movie Rogue never got to do anything that cool. I hope the MCU does her better. I do like the 90s cartoon best though.

Rogue just fucking sucks plain and simple and is the very definition of a Mary Sue...way too over powered, arrogant, and annoying...now I'm a huge fan of Superman and I'm aware that many people find him too over powered but he is way more modest and noble then that bitch Rogue will ever be, and he has way more control of his emotions...unless Lois is involved of course.

Now I'm fairly confident that with virus shit going that we will most likely never see the X-Men come to the MCU thus Rogue will never get her chance to LOL "shine" on the big screen... and that prospect makes me all warm and fuzzy on the inside the only that could top that is if they do another Marvel/DC crossover where Rogue gets her intestines torn out and devoured by either Doomsday or Lobo since it would certainly fit both characters, and a sight that I certainly would get off on, LOL!
