Questions about the Robbery

So I gather that Nino sets up the whole thing. He wants to steal $1m from ‘the East Coast mob’ from the pawn shop. He gets Cook to force Standard to commit the robbery, after which Cook’s goons in a black car are to rob and kill Standard and bring the $1m to Nino.

But it doesn’t go to plan. Standard gets shot and killed by the pawn shop owner, and The Driver escapes with Blanche to a motel after a savage car chase which results in the presumably goon-filled black car crashing horribly.

Questions:
Why did the TV news say that no money had been stolen?
Why did this make The Driver become aggressive toward Blanche?
What did The Driver learn when Blanche’s phone buzzed?
Were the robbers told the bag had $40,000 when actually it had $1m?
Why did the goons blow Blanche’S head off with a shotgun?

Thanks in advance.

The mob planned on tracking down and killing the robbers and didn't want the cops involved that's why they said no money was taken.

Because it cemented in his mind that it was all set up from the beginning.

Probably that she had called the guy that set them up.

I think so.

Because everyone involved in the robbery had to die to sever any ties back to Nino.

1) Not to report the $ to the cops as it is mob money
2) Driver was told it was $40,000 and it was $1M. Not reported means it is illegal $. Blanche knew of this.
3) She called someone. Driver knows she is part of scheme and figures she called someone to give their location as she did so when he was out of the room
4) Blanche knew it was 1m. Gabriel didn't
5) Maybe thinking she was Driver.
