Handshake with Margo

When Lars shakes Margo hand with out a glove on do you think he felt any hypersensitivity? I don't think he did and that's why he started to like her. The main reason he liked Bianca is because he had no hypersensitivity towards her, being plastic and all. Thoughts?

That's clearly the turning point in Lars' getting better. If you remember, not only does Lars take off his glove to shake her hand goodnight, but the camera zooms in and shows her hand lingering in his for a moment. It is obviously a small moment of physical intimacy they share. It is sweet and innocent, but also clearly indicative of sexual attraction between them.

It is Lars' attraction to and feelings for Margo that allows him to let Bianca get sick and die. He doesn't need the crutch of a "Real Girl" by his side in order to interact with others anymore. He has a real girl he's attracted to and who is very much attracted to him as well. He also has a whole town patiently indulging him and supporting him with love and kindness. By the end, he's ready to re-enter his community as an adult who isn't afraid of contact with others.

He still probably felt hypersensitivity when he shook her hand, but he was getting used to overcoming it. It all begins with the first few steps.
