That part is pretty bad in my opinion. No one could ever love that guy (in that way) or feel any sexual attraction AT ALL. Not because he's fat but because he's basically a kid. Does he even understand sex? That ending felt forced and way too far fetched. They could have just left that part out and the movie would have been better for it.

I also seem to be the only one here who doesn't think that Atsuko actually LOVES him, but rather just likes him very much as a good friend. She even said something along the lines of "I know it's the inside that counts, but you're fat as *beep*" so I never made the connection she could be attracted to him.
