Batou's Car

was that an old Ford GT or just some sort of look-alike ?

I'll have to see if I can spot where the Major steals his keys.

reply

the likeliest spot seemed to be that shot of their backs (and them standing together) when the "monster mecha" came roaring up out of control. the Major seemed to be standing on the side he checked for his keys later.

reply

Yeah, I thought it looked a lot like a Ford GT too.

I looke like the current one Ford's peddling now.

Batou had the new version of the Ford GT. Although by the time of SSS, it'd be considered a classic. Must be nice.

reply

it was the new ford gt, it had power windows, i still miss the lancia stratos he had in the series though

reply

By that time, there could be replicas of it.

reply

true, just as we have all the replicas of the old gt40's now, though the new gt wasn't the awe inspiring car the original was. but hey who knows, its a cartoon, a very well detailed cartoon, loved the nissan that togusa drove.

reply

For the longest time, both SAC seasons, he drove a Lancia Stratos. It was a legend among rally cars, but the road version was sexier than a carrierload of vettes.

reply

i'll agree with ya there. and the lil dino motor in them worked better than it did in the ferrari's it came in originally

Speaking aesthetically, I don't think that gits really did a very good job of enunciating the form of the cars in the right way in which to really make them eye catching or distinctive.

This may be intentional since gits isn't really a big car show but when you compare the dramatic presentation of the tilt rotor (such as when it's falling after being suicide bombed) it just seems like they could have given more visual cues to help the audience make a connection with that prop (in this case the car).

Reading those posts I can definitely see though that if the viewer already has a previous relationship with the look of a car then the gap is easily bridged.
