I think I got screwed over

While wandering around Adelaide I went to a store in China Town and purchased a... shall we say legally ambiguous copy of Solid State Society because it had english subs. When I watched it Togusa and the gang were rescuing some hostages but the subs said things like "Go get my car" "I can't bring it in here." "There's no enough room." Did I pay for animation and music but not a movie? Please help.

Waiting for:
The Fountain
Fur
Stranger than Fiction

What you did was purchase an illegal bootleg of SSS with a rather poor fansub job. Though I don't condone this for legal reasons, you would have been better off downloading a fansub for free from the internet.

However, for best results, you should wait three or four months and purchase a legal, licensed copy of SSS complete with English dub and English subtitles with Japanese audio.

If you live in Adelaide, you can get high quality (albeit relatively expensive) anime DVDs from ShinTokyo in Rundle Mall.

Or you can get fake copies of entire series for $20 from the stores animehomeus and animehomeuk on ioffer.com. They seem to be rips of the real thing, so the subtitles are good, and they have dubs anyway.

Hooray adelaide!

I just watched the film acquired through similar dubious means, and I swear to god, the subs were perfect, but missed out the last line in the entire film! BAAAAH!
