Well I saw it with a friend who knows japanese. Well I can say that the creators saw too much Matrix and Blade Runner. I was a bit disapointed. It is a combination of the first two movies, I mean philiosophy and science all this stuff was too much at the end. But the positive side of it, it was interesting, and a good cop story. Oh yeah, the graphic is *beep* good. Top notch. Two thumbs up.
share1.Ey Dude, the matrix was made after the first Ghost in the Shell and the Wachowskis admitted that the movie was a huge inspiration.
2.Now go and watch some skyline-photos from Tokyo, HongKong and Shanghai and you will see Blade Runner isn't that far in the future.
3. Philosophy and Science is the topic of Ghost in the Shell, if you can't stand it watch some american movies. No reason to be dissapointed, you just have to realize that this is not compatible with you personel taste.
4. Yes, I am a Gits fanboy, insulting my favorite Show/Movies makes me angry.

If you like the series you will love this movie, its full of suspense, fast paced, and has a lots of twists at the end. Also those who knows the first Manga from Shirow will recognize some nice similarities to one of the storys.
I'm not too fond of the series, I've only seen a dozen episodes of the first series, I like it and it's cool and all but it's a little too soap opera-y for me compared to the deeper movies. Though thanks for your info, I'm definitely gonna watch this, might even try to find the rest of the series and 2nd gig

If you imagine that there had been a season 3, and they took all the complex episodes and made them into a movie, that is Solid State Society. By that I mean that it isn't 'movie like', it's like a 90 minute complex. It's good!
