Saw it today... kind of agree with the 'bad' reviews

Well I am not going to call it bad but it is not as good as the first 2 rebuild movie.

The editing is OK but the story really seems like lacking that Eva flavor through out. May be because it is brand new story arc and no "homework" aka the tv story for the fans to digest on.

The CG + anime look is great. It definitely improved and the action sequences are not bad, although if something from the TV series or the old movies made your jaw dropped, you may not see similar elements in this one. I won't give anything away. I suggest EVA fans keep your faith but also watch this one with adjusted expectations.

It will be another 2-3 yrs for the next and final movie I suppose. Enjoy this one and even if you don't like it, you won't have to watch another one for a while.

I prefer to think of it as part of a whole. It's not the crowd pleaser that 2.0 is, that's for sure, but I don't think the creator's were interested in duplicating that. They did it once already and really challenged themselves to take the series in a new direction, which they've definetly succeeded. I understand some people's gripes, but I can only speak for myself and I was riveted and I'm way more excited for 4.0 than I was for 3.0.

I love this movie I actually think it's the best rebuild film so far. I felt that 2.0 (although a good movie) really didn't feel like Eva to me. With all the unnecessary fan service and allot more action. I prefer my Eva to be more cerebral, although I understand that the mechs and angels are the main focus of the series but 2.0 seemed to be allot of action more than story.

3.0 was fresh and new, I loved the huge risk they took in the film
