Slight knockoff of Humphrey Bogart's African Queen?

Yay or neigh?

reply

Kinda. The ride is based off of African Queen so the movie is as well.

reply

You mean the Disney ride? Is it? How so? Interesting if so but it doesn't seem to resemble it at all.

reply

It wasn't in Africa but I think the next movie will be.

reply

Only in the looks. A bigger, scene by scene copy of The Mummy

reply

Not as much as it should have been. Not using the boat to take out the nazi sub in the end seems a terrible oversight.

reply

Hmm yeah. I haven't seen the movie yet.

reply

Even bigger knockoff of Pirates of the Caribbean

reply

Well not really. I wouldn't even say Black Sails is a knockoff of PotC, more like a takeover.

reply

Very loose resemblance but the Rock and Emily Blunt did mention that movie as an influence, as well as Romancing the Stone.

Like The African Queen, there's a spirited sister and her brother (although the brother dies right at the beginning of African Queen), and the unkempt boat skipper. And some Germans as opposition.

reply

So then it is kinda a knockoff of AQ in more ways than I even guessed. That's ok. It's bound to be a bit of fun.

reply

That was my first impression when I saw the trailer. Like that crossed with the Mummy films.
