Would L personally kill Misa?

Rem's death doesn't make any sense unless L would personally kill Misa.

The rule is as followed;

''If the god of death decides to use the Death Note to kill the assassin of an individual he favors, the individual's life will be extended, but the god of death will die.''

But L was just busy exposing Misa as Kira or as the second Kira, which would result in her being sentenced to death, in no way shape or form was L her ''assassin'' so therefor Rem shouldn't have died when killing L.

Maybe it was an error with the series. Although L's death made it less likely for her to get caught as the others were against trying his experiment. If the 13 day rule was proven false then Misa would be a suspect gain and there was strong evidence against her. L's death would have lengthened Misa's life nd that was Rem's intention so Rem died.
There was also the guy Misa told Rem to kill to convince Higuchi she was the second Kira and Rem didn't die. For that matter was there any penalty for Shinigami telling a human another human's name. Like if she said to Light, "L is L Lawliet" Would it be the same as lengthening a life on purpose?

reply

They explained the logic right before it happened. L will catch Misa and she will get the death penalty as a result. Rem extends her life by killing L, so that she won't be caught. Rem didn't have to kill her "assassin". The rule was simply that a god of death will die if they extend the life of a human. That's it.

Yeah that's what I though, the rule specifically states the word assassin though, which seemed weird considering L wasn't gonna assassinate Misa.

Does it? I don't remember that. I just watched the episode with that about a week ago. I'll have to go back and watch it again.
