Good But Just a collage of other movies (Spoilers)

Did anyone else notice all of the other movies that were referenced here? One that really jumped out is the obvious homage to the Usual Suspects, when the detective realizes all of the names used by Keyser Soze, the detective drops his coffee cup just like Kaley does with her cell phone when she realizes Bic Mitchum and all the other names.

They also kind of mixed in themes from "Hitch" (nerdy guy impressing out of his league girl) , the "Wedding Crashers" (the dance scene when they crash the wedding, pretty blatant), and a little lesser known "A Guy Thing" (the main falls for a stripper before the wedding). And who can miss
'The Longest Yard" when all of the old football stars make the first snap into a beat down... or for people that like the discriet references that football beat down also happened in "Necessary Roughness"-1991 when the convicts (Ed Jones was the big man in both this one and that one) scrimmage the main team and they bring the pain. And then of course the reference that people have been catching is the reference to "Lost" at the end. Not to mention the Song from Rudy, the blatant copy of the scene from Titanic (both of these are correctly used for comedy I thought) and the theme from I love You Man with the rag tag bunch of groomsmen.

I did really enjoy this movie, originality may not have been there, but they combined a lot of great parts from other movies. I imagine there were others that I missed??... and I would bet other movies that carried these same themes, just not all in one spot.

Also just the name of another movie. The wedding ringer/singer

Many of those similarities can be shrugged off as your imagination or coincidences rather than intentional homages or being derivative

When the stars are the only things we share
Will you be there?

I thought the assignment-handing-out scene was similar to the one in Reservoir Dogs.

Mr. Pink didn't like his name and wants to switch with someone else. In this movie the 'vegan' guy didn't want that trait and wanted to switch with another person. Both were told no switching.

I got a Meet the Parents vibe as well.

I feel like the football scene was heavily inspired by a certain episode of Married with Children.

The entire film was derivative of nearly every mainstream comedy film of the last 20 years. To accuse it of simply ripping off one idea from one film here and another there is pointless. It recycled the most obvious and overused devices from bad sitcoms and formulaic romantic comedies and buddy pictures. Not much fresh or insightful about it.
