How did the RV battery die?

Jesse is not the smartest guy, but if you watch the episode "Four Days Out" he clearly does not turn the ignition switch on when he puts the keys in. So what was it that caused the battery to die?

reply

Watch the scene again and you'll notice that the ignition switch is not located in the steering column, it's located in the dashboard. You can clearly see that Jesse turns the key several times with his right hand in an effort to try and start the vehicle. The reason the engine didn't start is because Jesse left the keys in the ignition for two days (while him and Walter were cooking in the RV) which ended up draining the battery. It wasn't his fault, the buzzer didn't buzz.

In some vehicles, especially older ones, just having the key in the ignition will slowly drain the battery. You don't have to have turned the ignition for this to happen necessarily.

My 93 vette uses the passkey code chip for the ignition, if you leave the key inserted, the battery will be dead in about 3 weeks as the chip allows lots of current to pass and drain the battery.

Jesse is a moron and was lucky to have a guardian angel like Walt to look out for him.
